Ligdraca is a multimedia dance show developed for the facade of the Wittenberg townhall and marketplace. This production involves an international team of dedicated artists and numerous collaborations mostly produced in Wittenberg. It combines the visual mapping of the townhall building (ascending to circa 400 m²) and interactive dance composition, often complemented by kinetic resources. If there was a goal in this show, it would be, through sensorial defiance, to question the constant transformation of symbolic legacies perpetuated culturally. While being bound to the Cranach's family symbolic nomenclature, namely the signature, it also involves video shootings made in Wittenberg’s landscapes with renaissance inspired space compositions.
The show tells of the interaction between two characters inspired by the resilient story described in the Bible between the Snake, Adam and Eve, so often represented by the Cranach family of painters. From the meeting of two characters, the protagonist interpreted by Beatriz Dias (Portuguese) will carry the legacy of a transmitted message and due to its importance will intend to disseminate among the audience.
The show is determined to defy visual perception through an augmented reality while combining the physicality of sculptural objects, immersive sound compositions and the immateriality of projected videos mostly produced by the Urbanscreen frontmen (Bremen), all manipulated live. All the sound was purposely designed for the exhibition by the Wittenberg born Falk Andreas of the ascending German music group METRYK.
Action unfolds throughout most of the marketplace, involving visitors themselves.
This production is one of a kind in Wittenberg and the region of Saxony-Anhalt, turning Wittenberg's centre into a centre pro multimedia and performance with renowned protagonists.
